Q&A
-
I am President and CEO of Mount Adams Fruit, a tree fruit company growing and packing pears, cherries and apples throughout the Columbia Gorge and Central Washington. We work with a large network of growers and employ hundreds of people throughout the region.
-
The communities on both sides of the Columbia are incredibly interconnected. People cross the bridge every day for work, school, healthcare, family and countless other reasons. I want to help ensure our region has a safe and reliable crossing that will serve these communities for generations.
-
The bridge is critical to Mount Adams Fruit and to the entire grower community in the Columbia Gorge. A tremendous amount of business depends on it every day. Fruit, employees, trucks, equipment and supplies constantly move between Washington and Oregon. For agriculture in particular, timing matters. During harvest, even small disruptions can have significant consequences.
Replacing the bridge is about much more than transportation. It is about protecting the ability of businesses and farms throughout the Gorge to operate, grow and remain competitive.
-
I want to help get the bridge built. At the same time, we need to make sure we do it responsibly, with a strong focus on affordability, accountability and the needs of the people and businesses that depend on it every day. I hope to bring a practical business and agricultural perspective to the Authority and help deliver a bridge that supports the Gorge for generations.
